Beretta 84, 84BB, 84F & 84FS Grips: Fit Guide for the Cheetah Series

Beretta 81 / 84 Cheetah walnut grips, fine checkered

The Beretta Cheetah family has been made in many versions since 1976: the 84, 84B, 84BB, 84F and 84FS, plus the .32 ACP Model 81 versions. If you are looking for new grips, the good news is that most of them share the same grip panels. This guide explains which models our Beretta 81 / 84 grips fit and how to identify your pistol.

Quick answer

  • Our Beretta 81 / 84 grips fit the 84B, 84BB, 84F, 84FS and the 81BB, 81F, 81FS.
  • The 81 and 84 are the same pistol in two calibers (.32 ACP and .380 ACP) and use the same grips.
  • The single-stack 85 and 87 have slimmer frames and need different grips.
  • For a very early original 84 (1976–1980), send us a photo so we can confirm the fit.

The Cheetah series, version by version

Version Introduced What changed
81 / 84 1976 Original models with a rounded trigger guard and wood grips
81B / 84B 1980 Automatic firing pin safety, grooved front and back straps
81BB / 84BB 1982 More slide serrations, white dot sights
81F / 84F c. 1988 Squared combat trigger guard, decocker, plastic grips, Bruniton finish
81FS / 84FS c. 1990 Improved decocker

Through all these updates, Beretta changed the slide, the safety and the trigger guard, but the grip area stayed the same size. That is why one set of grips covers the B, BB, F and FS versions.

How to identify your Beretta 84 or 81

  1. Check the slide. The model (for example "Mod. 84BB" or "84FS") and the caliber are marked on the slide.
  2. Look at the trigger guard. A squared trigger guard with a finger rest means an F or FS. A rounded trigger guard means an original, B or BB.
  3. Check the magazine. The 81 and 84 use a double-stack magazine. If your magazine is single-stack and the grip is noticeably slimmer, you most likely have an 85 or 87.

Walnut or acrylic?

F and FS models left the factory with plastic grips, and many owners of older guns have worn or cracked wood panels. Replacing them with walnut or acrylic is one of the easiest upgrades for a Cheetah.

Every set is CNC machined for the Cheetah frame and finished by hand in our workshop in Türkiye. You can also order custom engraved grips with your name, initials or a logo.

Installation

The grips install with your original grip screws (screws are not included). Make sure the pistol is unloaded, remove the magazine, unscrew the old panels and fit the new ones. Our step-by-step installation guide walks you through it.

Frequently asked questions

Do Beretta 84 grips fit the 84BB?

Yes. Our 81 / 84 grips fit the 84B, 84BB, 84F and 84FS.

Do 84 grips fit the Beretta 81?

Yes. The 81 (.32 ACP) and 84 (.380 ACP) share the same frame and grips, including the 81BB, 81F and 81FS.

Will they fit a Beretta 85 or 87?

The 85 and 87 are single-stack pistols with a slimmer grip, so 81 / 84 grips don't fit them. For other Cheetah models, send us a photo on WhatsApp.
